BIOPHOTONICS Biophotonics is a scientific discipline exploring through optical techniques the interactions between electromagnetic radiation and biological matter. Absorption, emission, reflection, and light scattering are the interference phenomena studied at the different levels of spatial resolution and within time. Biophotonics techniques have been developed and applied to study biological molecules, cells and tissue properties. Areas of application are life science, medicine, microbiology, pharmacology, toxicology, and environmental sciences. One of the main benefits of using optical techniques which make up biophotonics is that they preserve the integrity of the biological samples being examined. Medical Research, Diagnosis & Treatment
