Dr. Della Bianca is involved in projects regarding the trafficking of different leukocyte subpopulations from blood into the central nervous system during neurodegenerative disorders in which inflammation plays a detrimental role. Dr. Della Bianca’s researches are mainly focused on Alzheimer’s disease, the most common cause of dementia in elderly people. Dr. Della Bianca is currently studing the molecular mechanisms involved in the leukocytes migration in the central nervous system and the role of immune cells in promoting neuronal damage and cognitive impairement in animal models of Alzheimer's disease
