Learning objectives
Learning of the main methods of the integrated approach of omics and technologies related to transcriptomics, proteomics and epigenomics analysis including high-throughput technology methods. Understanding of the different approaches to using transcriptomics and epigenomics methods for multifactorial and complex diseases including neoplastic as well as non-neoplastic ones. Study of genetic-nutritional mechanisms in influencing the mechanisms of gene transcription and specific cellular and tissue pathways in complex multifactorial pathologies. Study of the role of epigenetic mechanisms in determining specific molecular signatures and clinical outcomes in nutrition including pathological nutritional conditions.
Prerequisites and basic notions
Knowledge of basic concepts of cellular and molecular biology including mechanisms of gene transcription determined by genetic and/or major epigenetic processes. General knowledge of concepts of cellular and molecular pathology.
Program
- Introduction to epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation in human physiology - role of epigenetic mechanisms in some human pathologies with multifactorial and complex genesis such as neoplasms - genetic-nutritional and epigenetic interactions - concepts of nutritional pathology associated with genetic and epigenetic alterations such as the example of neoplastic cachexia and anorexia and related to complex multifactorial chronic pathologies - how to write a scientific project - how to write a scientific article
